Venice in the Afternoon: Travel Department Lake Garda FAM Day 4
The Travel Department FAM trip finished strong, as the group made their way to Venice for the last full day.
They got to experience the day trip that is offered on the Lake Garda tour exactly as a client would, in fact there were some current Travel Department customers on the same transfers, walking tour and gondola rides as the agents. Although the start was early and the transfers were long, with a three hour bus ride and a water taxi each way, there was no denying that it was well worth it to get to this bucket list destination.
The views from the water taxi were beautiful, as it passed a handful of the islands and the main port came into view. The group had a few options once they arrived. Some chose to explore Venice at their own pace, seeing what they discovered themselves along the way, others could opt for the guided walking tour, and for the ultimate Venetian experience, the group could choose to take part in a gondola ride.
For those that joined the walking tour, guided by tour leaders Matilda and Valentina, they were brought from the port to be shown the most iconic attractions of Venice. They passed Vivaldi Church, learning about the opera events that take place there.
The Bridge of Sighs was next, where the group stopped for a fantastic photo opportunity, before walking by the Palazzo Ducalo, home to art and rich history of the city. The group had some time to spend in the famous St. Mark’s Square, and then continued on, making their way through St. Lucas Square, and reaching Rialto Bridge for even more classic photographs of Venice. They had some free time then to spend wandering about at their own leisure before the gondola rides.
The gondola ride was peaceful and surreal as they weaved through the unique canals of Venice. The group sat in disbelief as they admired the movie-like and picturesque views that passed them, learning about the history of gondolas from their captains. The afternoon ended with a round of Bellini’s and a transfer back to the hotel, with the group in awe of what they had just experienced.
They returned to Lake Garda for a final group dinner, and an early night to rest before their flights home the next morning.
The whole group expressed immense gratitude to the Travel Department. In particular to both Brian Fulton, Travel Department’s Key Account and Business Development Manager for Ireland and Northern Ireland, and Gemma Walker, Travel Department’s Trade Sales Manager for Scotland, for hosting this FAM trip.
Each person acknowledged that what made the few days so amazing, was the great care and attention shown to the group throughout. Thank you to the Travel Department for inviting ITTN’s Saoirse along, so that she too could witness first-hand how well they look after their clients.
