Travel Department FAM Trip to Lake Garda: Day 1
This week, ITTN’s Saoirse Cross-Smith joins a group of twelve agents jetting off to Lake Garda for a four night Familiarisation Trip with the Travel Department.
Eight of them met early this morning in Dublin Airport, starting the trip off with breakfast, before a 2.35hr flight with Aer Lingus to Milan. With the rest of the group flying in from Edinburgh, they were due to arrive later in the evening.
From Milan, the group travelled along the east coast of the lake, which gave them a breath taking introduction to all the lake has to offer. The relaxed atmosphere could be felt the whole drive, as they passed people tanning in the sun and bathing in the deep blue lake water.
After the journey, the group arrived in Malcesine, where the beautiful Hotel Majestic Palace awaited them as their accommodation for the next four nights. With day one mostly consisting of free time, agents were given the chance to explore and familiarise themselves with the area, before the group dinner. With options such as the Malcesine cable car, exploring Malcesine itself, or even relaxing by the pool and enjoying the hotels amenities, there were endless ways to spend the afternoon.
Looking ahead at the itinerary for the coming days, the group is in for a beautiful day two, with surreal scenery of alpine lakes, mountain views and remote villages along the Italian Alps Wine Tour. The day will include a wine tasting experience at a family run winery. This will give the group the chance to experience one of the popular optional excursions, that will become part of Travel Department’s main Lake Garda itinerary from 2027.
For day three, the group will enjoy a sightseeing lake tour by public ferry with a private guide. The cruise will head to Riva del Garda to view featured hotels from the outside, giving the group the chance to familiarise themselves with their locations. This tour will also include a site inspection of the stunning Hotel Alexander in Limone, as well as some free time for sightseeing.
Finishing off strong, the final full day will be a day trip to Venice. The group will arrive by water taxi to St Mark’s Square, having time to explore the romantic architecture, and iconic canals and bridges that make Venice so famous. This will be a perfect opportunity for each of the agents to experience the excursion exactly as the Travel Department’s customers do.
The group will split up again on Saturday morning, with some flying back to Edinburgh, and the rest flying with Aer Lingus back to Dublin. Follow along to see if each day lives up to the exciting itinerary!
