Onwards to Malcesine, Limone & Riva del Garda: Travel Department Lake Garda FAM Day 3
ITTN’s Saoirse spent the third day of the Travel Department Lake Garda FAM Trip travelling by ferry between Malcesine, Limone and Riva del Garda.

The group had the chance to learn all about their history’s, and experience what was on offer for the customers that book with the Travel Department. Even though they were unlucky with the weather, the charm of each place was undeniable.
The day began with a 9am start, and a short walk through the streets of Malcesine to reach the port. Weather permitted, as the sun briefly shone in the morning, the public ferry went ahead and carried the group to the town, Limone. For the short ride, beautiful architecture and mountain views were appreciated.
After arriving, the group walked the lemon-lined streets, learning that Limone actually became well known for growing the fruit. September was a great time for the group to visit, as most of the shops close for winter, so by November Limone is a ghost town.
The group continued on, to a site visit of the 4-star Hotel Alexander. They were met by Travel Department representatives, Sinéad and Linda, and had time to explore the hotel itself. With amenities such as a beauty centre (its use included in each customers stay), a pool and a beautiful dining area, it is a great choice for anyone wanting to spend some time in Limone.

Even the location is ideal, as it is only a short walk from the lake itself and even a small public beach. After some room tours, it was clear that a junior suite is a perfect choice for a client interested in having a shared lake view balcony, and for those wanting a little bit more privacy, the superior rooms offer a fantastic pool view with a private balcony.
Once the site visit was over, agents had some free time in Limone, to familiarise themselves with the area and get a feel of what it is like to be a tourist there. Some walked up to the church with an amazing viewpoint of the port, while others enjoyed lunch by the lake, before heading back to the ferry to travel to the next stop, Riva del Garda.
This was a great opportunity to really see Riva, even though the group got a taster of it the day before during their drive. Although the weather took a bad turn as they arrived, the beauty of Riva was definitely not diminished. While wandering through the streets, agents had a chance to see some of the hotels that Travel Department use in the area, hotels such as Hotel Portici, Hotel Europa and Hotel Sole.
The group also passed the Grand Riva Hotel, and learned that it is a popular choice for clients travelling for the Christmas markets, as many shops and restaurants nearby remain open that time of year. Before the final ferry journey, the group enjoyed a classic aperol spritz by the port.
The day finished in Malcesine, with a group dinner at Rooftop 99 Bistrot, where everyone shared delicious pizzas, and headed back to the hotel.
Stay tuned to hear all about Venice for day 4!
