From Tokyo's tea houses to Mauritius' beaches
For Irish cabin crew member Rachel Murray from Wexford, the most rewarding aspect of the role has been the opportunity to experience different cultures, discover new destinations, and build a career in aviation.
“From exploring the streets of Tokyo and discovering tucked-away cafés and traditional tea houses to sampling the incredible food scene and nightlife in Bangkok, every destination has something completely different to offer. Then you can find yourself unwinding on a beach in Mauritius a few days later. Getting to experience these places beyond the usual tourist itinerary is such a privilege, and it never gets old. There's always somewhere new to discover, something new to try and another memory to bring home with you.”
At the forefront of aviation innovation
Emirates continues to invest in its fleet and onboard experience, introducing new aircraft and upgraded cabin products designed to enhance passenger comfort.
In 2025, the airline introduced its newly retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft on the Dublin–Dubai route, bringing Premium Economy to Irish passengers for the first time. The four-class configuration features 24 Premium Economy seats, a refreshed Business Class cabin with direct aisle access for every passenger, and enhanced interiors across all cabins.
The airline continues to push the boundaries of onboard comfort. In September 2026, Emirates unveiled the world's first electrically powered Premium Economy seat featuring a full-height adjustable privacy screen on its newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft.
Passengers can raise or lower the innovative screen at the touch of a button; the cabin also offers wireless charging, USB-C charging, an integrated phone holder, and a 13.3-inch 4K HDR entertainment screen.
These developments are part of Emirates' wider investment in its onboard experience, including its multi-billion-dollar aircraft retrofit programme, which introduces refreshed interiors and upgraded seating across its fleet.
Building skills for an international career
Emirates cabin crew complete a comprehensive eight-week training programme covering aircraft safety, emergency procedures, customer service, hospitality and operational excellence.
Following training, crew members can work across Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First Class, with opportunities to develop their skills and progress into senior and leadership roles.
Rachel says that the role has offered opportunities to grow professionally while developing skills that extend beyond the aircraft. “Joining Emirates has given me the opportunity to grow in ways I didn't necessarily expect when I started. You develop confidence, learn to work with people from all different backgrounds and build skills that are valuable both inside and outside the aircraft. There's always something new to learn, and that's what makes it such an interesting career.”
Emirates is seeking candidates who are passionate about customer service, adaptable and confident working as part of a team in an international environment.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old, fluent in written and spoken English, have at least one year of hospitality or customer service experience, and meet the airline's other eligibility requirements.
Successful candidates will relocate to Dubai, Emirates' international hub, to undertake training before beginning their careers with the airline.
