Yes Insurance calls for crackdown on Car Rental Insurance across Europe

As thousands of Irish holidaymakers head overseas this summer, Yes Insurance is warning travellers not to get caught out by expensive car rental insurance sold at the rental desk, where they can incur significant expenses.

To help motorists avoid these unexpected costs, Yes Insurance has launched its standalone Car Hire Excess Insurance from €2.50 a day or €45.99 for annual policy. The policy is designed to protect drivers against significant excess charges of up to €3,000 that can arise if a rental vehicle is damaged or stolen.

The Yes Insurance policy provides up to €10,000 excess reimbursement for rentals across the UK, Europe & Worldwide, offering a cost-effective alternative to purchasing excess protection at the rental desk.

The launch comes as Yes Insurance calls on EU Ministers to investigate the widespread practice of rental companies charging excessive prices for excess protection.

In addition to reimbursing the excess charged by the rental company, the Yes Insurance policy also includes cover for damage to tyres, windscreens, roofs, undercarriages, towing charges, administration fees, lost or stolen keys, vehicle lockouts and misfuelling.
