More than 50,000 passengers are expected to travel through Shannon Airport over the upcoming October Bank Holiday period, representing a 9% increase on the same period last year and continuing the airport's strong upward trend in passenger growth.

The figures come following a very successful summer for Shannon Airport, which welcomed more than one million passengers between May and August and was recognised by the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation as Ireland's fastest-growing major airport across those four months.

Commenting on the upcoming busy bank holiday, Airport Director of Shannon Airport, Niall Kearns, said: "We're looking forward to welcoming more than 50,000 passengers through Shannon Airport this October Bank Holiday period. It's great to see people from across the region and around the country making the most of our expanded route network as they travel to destinations across the US, UK, Europe and beyond.

"The growth we’re experiencing reflects the strong demand for Shannon Airport’s services and the continued hard work of our teams and airline partners.

“We were particularly proud to be recognised recently as Ireland's leading travel brand in the Ireland Customer Experience Insights (CXi) Report 2026. That recognition reflects our commitment to delivering an enjoyable and hassle-free experience to passengers, and we're ready to support all those travelling over the Bank Holiday period and throughout the busy winter season ahead."

Passengers departing from Shannon this October Bank Holiday are reminded that Shannon Airport's enhanced security screening technology allows liquids, aerosols and gels in containers of up to two litres to be carried in hand luggage, replacing the previous 100ml limit.
