SAS Scandinavian Airlines has cemented its position as one of the world's most punctual airlines; topping aviation analyst Cirium's monthly European on-time performance rankings for August - and for the 11th time in two years.

For last month, SAS posted an on-time arrival rate of 87%.

Worldwide, Aeromexico was ranked most punctual carrier for August. In the Asia-Pacific region, the most punctual carrier was Singapore Airlines, with WestJet topping the list in North America.

Cirium's latest data shows global flight cancellations declined from 71,840 in July to 59,785 in August, representing a 17% month-over-month improvement in global aviation operations. Asia Pacific recorded the strongest reduction at 23%, followed by North America at 20% and the Middle East and Africa at 15%. Europe showed a minimal increase in cancellations.

"Being named Europe’s most punctual airline once again is important because punctuality is one of the clearest ways we deliver value to our customers. Whether they are travelling for business, connecting to another flight, or heading home to their families, our customers rely on us to get them there on time. This result reflects the dedication of colleagues across SAS and our continued focus on making travel as smooth, reliable, and predictable as possible," said Paul Verhagen, Chief Commercial Officer at SAS.
