Ryanair has welcomed Clare County Council’s approval for a major €50m expansion at Shannon Airport – becoming Ryanair’s largest aircraft maintenance facility in Ireland. This €50m investment will create over 400 high-skilled jobs and significantly expand Ryanair’s aircraft maintenance and training capacity in the Mid-West. The new facility will also include a dedicated Ryanair Engineering Academy, with capacity for up to 80 apprentices and plans to train over 400 mechanics between 2027 and 2031.

Construction of the facility expansion is due to commence early next year.

Ryanair’s COO, Neal McMahon, said:

“We welcome Clare County Council’s approval of our €50m investment at Shannon Airport. This will allow Ryanair to build a 4-bay maintenance hangar, create over 400 high-skilled jobs and make Shannon Ryanair’s largest aircraft maintenance facility in Ireland.

Ryanair has invested heavily in Shannon for many years and this investment marks the next phase of that growth. This major new facility will not only increase Ryanair’s aircraft maintenance capacity at Shannon but will also include a new Engineering Academy, which will train the next generation of engineers with dedicated training facilities for up to 80 apprentices, training over 400 mechanics between 2027 and 2031.

We look forward to commencing construction early next year and delivering this major investment for Shannon as quickly as possible.”
