Radisson Adds 4 Norwegian Hotels to 'Verified Net Zero' Programme

As part of its journey towards achieving its goal of 100 verified net zero hotels by 2030, Radisson Hotel Group has announced that its portfolio of Verified Net Zero Hotels in Norway has grown to four, with the launch of Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Bergen; Radisson Blu Royal Garden Hotel, Trondheim; and Radisson Blu Hotel, Tromsø.

They join the existing Radisson RED Oslo City Centre, A Verified Net Zero Hotel, making them four of the world’s first Verified Net Zero Hotels.

The conversion of the three established Radisson Blu hotels demonstrates that large-scale meetings and events properties can transition to verified net zero operations without compromising scale or service. 

The opportunity to stay at a Verified Net Zero property allows guests to become part of a forward-thinking movement that combines comfort and innovation with sustainability. The Verified Net Zero program is comprehensive and includes the carbon footprint from energy use (Scopes 1 & 2 as defined by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol or GHG), as well as the hotel’s operational and supply chain footprint (Scope 3).

Successful conversions

Together, the three hotels offer more than 900 guest rooms, 49 meetings and event spaces, and capacity for over 1,300 delegates. Their conversion marks the next step for the successful program, extending Verified Net Zero to established upper-upscale hotels with a substantial meetings and events focus.

Events & Meetings  

For meeting planners and corporate buyers, the relevance is practical: the three hotels show how established venues can operate with net-zero emissions while maintaining the flexibility and capacity required for large-scale business events.

Radisson Blu Royal Garden Hotel, Trondheim brings the model to one of central Norway’s most established meetings venues. Located on the Nidelven River in the city center, the hotel offers 298 rooms, 15 meeting rooms, and capacity for up to 650 guests.

Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Bergen applies the model to a major conference and events hotel next to Bryggen, Bergen’s UNESCO World Heritage waterfront. The property offers 342 rooms and 21 meetings and event spaces across 2,100 square meters.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Tromsø extends the program into the Arctic. The hotel features 269 rooms, 13 meeting rooms, and Tromsø Hall that has capacity for up to 650 delegates.

The Verified Net Zero programme

The Verified Net Zero hotels program follows a reduction-first approach. Scope 1 and 2 emissions are eliminated through electrification and renewable energy, while operational Scope 3 emissions are reduced through targeted changes across food and beverage, waste, laundry, amenities, procurement, and across hotel operations. 

Residual emissions that cannot yet be eliminated are addressed only as a final step through carbon removal certificates from regenerative agriculture in Europe and of the highest quality standard. Each hotel undergoes independent third-party verification by TÜV Rheinland.

With four Verified Net Zero hotels operating in Norway, the country has become an important platform for the next phase of the program’s expansion. Radisson Hotel Group plans to add further Verified Net Zero hotels in 2026 as the model is extended to more operating hotels across Europe and other markets.
