Saudi Arabia is rapidly becoming a hub for 5-star luxury resorts and a top destination in luxury travel. The latest opening on the Red Sea coast is likely to attract a lot of social media attention as it welcomes its first guest this month, "marking the first time the famous Mediterranean lifestyle brand has ventured into the world of resort hotels"

Situated along the coast of Triple Bay in northwest Saudi Arabia, the new resort brings the unmistakable Nammos aesthetic to the Red Sea, combining the glamour of Mykonos with the natural beauty of the Saudi coastline. With 110 rooms, suites, and villas alongside 20 private residences, all "designed to make the most of the spectacular coastline setting", the resort features expansive terraces, natural materials, and uninterrupted sea views "central to the concept in design". The interiors "draw inspiration from the Cyclades while incorporating contemporary Saudi influences.

Renowned British architects Foster & Partners designed the architecture, while Lazaro Rosa-Violan Studio and Elastic Architects created the interiors. The result is a distinctly Mediterranean feel softened by the colours and textures of the Red Sea landscape.

The signature Nammos Restaurant sits on its own private island, reached only by an exclusive boardwalk or a private jetty, with an infinity pool, private cabanas and stunning views of the Red Sea. Designed as the resort's heart, it brings the same ethos of the famous Nammos beach club atmosphere to a new setting.

For Nammos Hotels & Resorts CEO Carolyn Turnball describes the resort as "taking the elements that guests already associate with the brand, its hospitality, dining, energy and sense of occasion and transforming them into a complete resort." She said, "It's much more than the opening of a hotel; it is the beginning of an entirely new chapter for Nammos"

The new Nammos Spa introduces what the brand calls "Boundless Wellbeing". Its offerings include sound healing, advanced skin health treatments and movement experiences. It is a "refreshing approach to wellness", less about strict routines and more about "finding your own rhythm, whether that means a treatment, a morning workout or simply time spent by the pool.

Families have not been forgotten. The Blu Kids club offers dedicated activities "inspired by nature and discovery", giving younger guests their "own way to engage with the destination. The resort also places a strong emphasis on wellness and time spent outdoors; AMAALA's wider focus is "health, nature and restorative travel".

For Irish luxury travellers looking for somewhere new and exciting, this could be a wonderful alternative to the usual Maldives or a Caribbean Christmas holiday destination, as Saudi Arabia continues to redefine luxury travel. Although there are no direct flights from Ireland to Saudi Arabia, you can fly into Abu Dhabi or Dubai, then take a flight of less than two hours.
