Metropole Hotel Celebrates Cork's Seasonal Fare with New Afternoon Tea Menu

The Metropole Hotel, one of Cork's most iconic landmarks, invites guests to rediscover the timeless tradition of afternoon tea with the launch of a new menu inspired by the flavours, producers and the summer season in Cork.

The carefully curated afternoon tea is served daily from 1.00pm to 4.00pm in the hotel's newly restored lobby on MacCurtain Street.

Created by Executive Head Chef Eoghan O'Flynn and his team, the menu celebrates the finest ingredients from across the region. Seasonal strawberries, raspberries and blackberries feature throughout the menu, complemented by local artisan ingredients and classic French pâtisserie techniques.

Among the signature sweet creations are the Met Signature Summer Trifle with Irish strawberries and prosecco jelly, Raspberry and Lemon Pâte de Fruits and a delicate Lemon and Elderflower Crème Brûlée finished with fresh blackberries.

Freshly baked buttermilk scones served warm with Seville orange marmalade, Irish salted butter and crème chantilly sit alongside an Irish Strawberry and Vanilla Crémeux Tartlet and an elegant White Chocolate and Vanilla Choux Bun. 

The savoury selection pays tribute to some of Cork's finest producers featuring Red Prawn with Romesco on traditional soda bread, Free-Range Egg Salad with rocket and wholegrain mustard and Tim Mulcahy's renowned English Market chicken with creamy tarragon mayonnaise and sun-blushed tomatoes.

Speaking about the new menu, Executive Head Chef Eoghan O'Flynn said: "Afternoon Tea has always been about taking time to slow down and enjoy exceptional food in beautiful surroundings. Our new menu reflects everything we love about Cork, its remarkable seasonal produce, its artisan food producers and the craftsmanship that goes into every dish. We wanted to create an experience that feels both familiar and refined, where every element tells a story of place, season and hospitality."

The Afternoon Tea experience at The Metropole Hotel is €45 per person and must be pre-booked with at least 24-hours notice before the booking date and time.
