Marella Cruises has announced its summer 2028 cruise programme, including a new Greek port, Patras.

All summer sailings go on sale from 15 October 2026.

The new port of call, Patras will feature on Marella Explorer  for the season, taking place on the new itinerary the ‘Grecian Gems’ which is sailing from its homeport of Corfu, Greece.

Patras offers an authentic, less crowded Greek experience, combining rich history, landmarks such as the Church of St Andrew and beautiful views across the Gulf of Patras. This will be the first time Marella Cruises has ever sailed to the third largest city in Greece from July 2028.

Marella Explorer 2, the adults-only ship, will sail the new seven-night itinerary ‘Spanish Shores’ from its homeport of Malaga, Spain. This sailing will include visits to Malaga, Spain; Gibraltar; day at sea; Ibiza Town; Mahon, Menorca; Palma, Majorca; Cartagena, Spain and Malaga, Spain. These cruises will start from June 2028.

In addition, there will be four new repositioning cruises from April 2028 on offer including: ‘Sail into Spring’ onboard Marella Explorer with a 10 night sailing from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria to Corfu and an 11 night sailing from Santa Cruz, Tenerife to Corfu; ‘Flavours of the Mediterranean’ onboard Marella Discovery 2 for five nights from Palma to Dubrovnik; ‘Transatlantic Treasures’ onboard Marella Explorer 2 for 13 nights from Barbados to Malaga and ‘Atlantic Horizons’ onboard Marella Voyager for 13 nights from Barbados to Palma.

These repositioning cruises will include special guest speakers, additional shows, new showcases and more tribute acts.

The rest of the fleet will homeport from a range of European ports including: Marella Discovery and Marella Voyager in Palma, Majorca and Marella Discovery 2, the second adults-only ship, will be in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Marella Cruises has also extended its cruise and stay offering by giving more choice for customers in different destinations, with 119 hotels available in Majorca, Corfu, Dubrovnik and Malaga for cruise & stay guests, operating from 22 airports across the UK and ROI.

Chris Hackney, CEO at Marella Cruises said: “We're building on the continued popularity of our core homeports for Summer 2028. Demand for our Eastern Mediterranean Cruises remains strong, with Summer 2027 already ahead of last year. We're also returning to Malaga for another summer season following the success of previous sailings from the region.

"We're always looking for opportunities to offer customers new destinations and Patras is an exciting addition to our programme. Alongside new itineraries and expanded cruise and stay options, Summer 2028 will give customers even more choice when planning their next cruise.”
