Lufthansa Airlines has successfully completed revalidation under the EMAS environmental management system (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) for the reporting year 2025.

For the first time, Lufthansa City Airlines and Lufthansa Aviation GmbH were also recognised. Validation covered how the companies implement environmental measures and achieve measurable progress — whether in flight operations or on the ground.

EMAS is a voluntary instrument of the European Union that supports companies and organizations of all sizes and sectors in continuously improving their environmental performance. The environmental management system includes all requirements of the international environmental management standard ISO 14001, supplemented by additional requirements.
This year's environmental statement focuses on operational fuel efficiency. Lufthansa Airlines demonstrates how measures across the entire flight operation — from flight planning through cruise flight to landing and ground processes — lead to measurable kerosene savings.
