Cruise port operator The West Indian Company, Ltd. (WICO) has announced the election of its President and Chief Executive Officer, Joseph B. Boschulte, to the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s (CTO) Allied Board of Directors for the 2026–2028 term.

Mr Boschulte was elected during the CTO’s State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC), held in Georgetown, Guyana, on October 6, joining a five-member board of tourism and hospitality executives tasked with advancing regional collaboration, industry development and private-sector engagement across the Caribbean.

The appointment marks another milestone for WICO under Mr Boschulte’s leadership. Shortly after assuming the helm of the company earlier this year, Mr Boschulte spearheaded WICO’s membership in the CTO, recognizing the importance of strengthening the company’s engagement with regional tourism stakeholders and positioning the organization to contribute more actively to conversations shaping the future of Caribbean tourism.

“I am honoured to have been elected to the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s Allied Board of Directors and to represent WICO and the U.S. Virgin Islands in this capacity,” said Mr Boschulte.

“One of my priorities upon joining WICO was to ensure that our organization had a stronger voice in the regional tourism community. Becoming an allied member of CTO was an important step toward that goal, and this appointment presents an opportunity to further strengthen partnerships, share industry knowledge and advocate for initiatives that support sustainable tourism and cruise industry growth throughout the Caribbean.”

A seasoned tourism executive and former Commissioner of Tourism for the U.S. Virgin Islands, Mr Boschulte brings extensive experience in destination marketing, tourism development and cruise port operations to the board. His leadership at WICO includes overseeing the continued development and strategic positioning of the Havensight cruise port, one of the territory’s key gateways for cruise tourism and economic activity.

The CTO Allied Board represents the interests of allied members on the organization’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Its responsibilities include recommending regional tourism initiatives, expanding nongovernment membership and fostering collaboration between public- and private-sector stakeholders.

Mr Boschulte joins reelected Allied Board Chairman William “Billy” Griffith, Managing Director of WCG Consulting Ltd.; returning member Danny Cohanpour, Founder and CEO of Trove Tourism Development Advisors; and newly elected members Amrita Bhalla, Managing Director of A.B Consulting, and Christos Shepherd, Founder and CEO of The Visitor Card LLC.

As WICO continues to advance its strategic priorities, Boschulte’s appointment underscores the company’s commitment to building meaningful partnerships, elevating the U.S. Virgin Islands’ presence in regional tourism discussions and supporting the long-term competitiveness of the Caribbean cruise industry.
