John Galligan has officially retired after a career spanning more than 50 years in the travel industry.

For 36 of those years, he built John Galligan Travel into the highly respected name it is today, particularly within luxury cruise and expedition travel.

FROSCH Ireland said: “Following the acquisition of John Galligan Travel by FROSCH Ireland last year, we’ve been incredibly proud to welcome John, Jennifer and the JGT team into the FROSCH Ireland family. As John begins his very well-deserved retirement, we want JGT clients to know that the personal service, expertise and care they have trusted for so many years will continue.

“With Jennifer Byrne, who has worked alongside John for the past 26 years, now leading the team, and the support and resources of the wider FROSCH Ireland group behind her, we’re excited to continue building on the fantastic legacy John has created.”

FROSCH Ireland’s Angela Walsh and Jackie Sheehan joined John and his team in Dublin to mark the occasion and raise a glass to his next chapter.

John Galligan said: "I am delighted that Angela saw the potential in JGT and welcomed us to the fold. In tandem with Jennifer Byrne, the new team leader, I am sure they will grow the old JGT into a more bigger and more successful entity. I leave them with my best wishes for the future and knowing that “my baby” is in the best of hands."

FROSCH Ireland CEO, Angela Walsh said:“We’re delighted to continue building on the incredible niche John has carved out in the expedition travel space. His knowledge, passion and expertise, particularly when it comes to all things Arctic, are second to none.

"While John may be ‘officially’ retiring, he remains very much part of the FROSCH family and will continue as our resident expert in all things expedition and Arctic. We’re incredibly fortunate to still have his experience and insight within the business.

"As we look to this exciting next chapter, Jennifer Byrne, who has worked alongside John for more than 20 years, will take the helm on the ground in Sandyford and at the JGT office. There couldn’t be a better person to carry that legacy forward and we’re really excited about what lies ahead.”
