Holland America Line Introduces Poolside Live Music Areas as Part of Ship Enhancement Programme

Holland America Line has announced the introduction of new bandstands at the Lido Pool on its Oosterdam and Zuiderdam ships, creating dedicated venues for live music and entertainment in one of the ships' most popular gathering spaces.

The upgrade is part of the cruise line's Holland America Evolution makeover programme. The new additions will expand opportunities for guests to enjoy live performances throughout their cruise, with the first venue debuting on Oosterdam following its Evolution transformation in autumn 2027.

Key Highlights:

  • New bandstands at the Lido Pool on Oosterdam and Zuiderdam will create dedicated venues for live music and entertainment in one of the ship's most popular gathering spaces.

  • The new venues will host a variety of musical acts throughout each cruise, from solo performers to energetic live bands during sailaways, special events and celebrations.

  • The additions expand opportunities for guests to enjoy favourite onboard traditions, including programming tied to Holland America Line's signature Orange Party.

  • The enhancement is part of Holland America Evolution, a more than $500 million investment introducing guest-favourite venues, new staterooms and suites, and other enhancements across six Vista and Signature Class ships.

"Evolution is about bringing the very best of Holland America Line to more of our fleet," said Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line. "Over the past several years, we've been on a journey to expand and elevate our entertainment offerings across the fleet, guided by what our guests tell us they love most. The new Lido Pool bandstands are another step in that effort, creating more opportunities to enjoy live music and memorable performances in one of the ship's most popular gathering spaces."

Programming at the new venue will include a variety of musical acts, from solo performers to energetic live bands, along with events connected to Holland America Line's signature Orange Party and other guest-favourite traditions. The Lido Pool's retractable glass roof allows guests to enjoy the space throughout the voyage, rain or shine.

The largest fleet update in the company's 153-year history, Holland America Evolution is revitalizing six Vista and Signature Class ships with a blend of Pinnacle Class-inspired experiences, new offerings and guest favourites.

The company will invest more than $500 million across the ships to enhance guest spaces, introduce new venues and add additional staterooms and suites that provide more choice for travellers. Oosterdam and Zuiderdam are the first two ships in the programme.

In addition to the new poolside bandstands, guests sailing aboard Oosterdam and Zuiderdam following their transformations will enjoy a number of enhancements, including the introduction of the popular Grand Dutch Café and new staterooms and suites. Together, the updates are designed to bring some of the line's most-loved experiences to more of the fleet while creating additional space and amenities for guests.
