Luxury travel has evolved. Today’s discerning travellers are increasingly seeking experiences that feel exclusive rather than extravagant, where exceptional hotels, memorable dining and authentic cultural experiences deliver true value without compromising on style. And according to a new July 2026 report by digital entertainment platform JB.com, some of the world’s most rewarding luxury escapes are found far from the traditional playgrounds of the French Riviera or the Amalfi Coast.
The study analysed 20 global destinations, comparing five-star hotel rates, fine-dining costs, luxury experiences, wellness facilities, transport, safety, and summer temperatures to reveal where travellers enjoy the greatest luxury for their money. The results prove that indulgence doesn’t always require an unlimited budget.
Topping the list is Da Nang, Vietnam, a destination rapidly emerging as Southeast Asia’s luxury success story. With sweeping sandy beaches, contemporary oceanfront resorts and a thriving culinary scene, the city offers remarkable value. A five-star hotel for two averages just €85 per night. Check out Spa & Wellness | Lopota Lake Resort & Spa. An elegant dinner for two costs approximately €16. More impressive still are the 205 luxury experiences available, from private sunset cruises and bespoke cultural tours to spectacular fireworks-viewing excursions, with experiences averaging around €45. Add more than 700 spas and wellness centres, and Da Nang effortlessly combines affordability with sophistication.
Just down Vietnam’s central coast, Hoi An claims second place and is arguably even more charming. The UNESCO-listed town is renowned for its lantern-lit streets, riverside cafés and beautifully restored merchant houses. Here, luxury feels intimate rather than ostentatious. Five-star accommodation averages €73 per night, while fine dining comes in at just €15 for two, making it the most affordable gourmet destination in the rankings. With over 540 wellness retreats and luxury experiences averaging just €36, Hoi An offers exceptional value for couples seeking a slower, more romantic escape.
In third place, Marrakech proves that timeless glamour never goes out of style. The Moroccan city boasts the highest number of premium experiences in the study, with 371 luxury activities, ranging from private hammam rituals and rooftop dining to hot-air balloon adventures over the Atlas Mountains and exclusive tours through hidden riads in the ancient medina. Five-star hotels average €245 per night, while an elegant dinner costs approximately €28 for two. Although temperatures climb during the summer months, savvy travellers who embrace early mornings and atmospheric evenings are rewarded with one of the world’s most captivating luxury destinations.
Fourth on the list is the exotic island paradise of Zanzibar, where barefoot luxury meets Indian Ocean tranquillity. While luxury resorts average €280 per night, the destination still represents excellent value when compared with similar island escapes elsewhere in the world. Fine dining costs around €19 for two, while premium experiences average €58, including private spice plantation tours, sunset dhow cruises and snorkelling adventures around the crystal-clear waters of Mnemba Atoll. It is a destination that perfectly balances adventure with indulgence.
Completing the top five is Nairobi, Kenya, where cosmopolitan luxury blends seamlessly with unforgettable wildlife experiences. A five-star stay averages €175 per night, with fine dining costing approximately €30 for two. Luxury experiences average €105, reflecting the exclusivity of private safaris and bespoke wildlife encounters. With pleasant summer temperatures hovering around 26°C, Nairobi also enjoys one of the most comfortable climates among the highest-ranked destinations, making it an ideal gateway to Kenya’s spectacular safari landscapes.
The report also highlights several other destinations delivering exceptional luxury value. Lima combines world-renowned gastronomy with five-star stays from €126 per night, while Kuala Lumpur continues to impress with contemporary luxury hotels averaging €114.
Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town and Buenos Aires complete the top ten, each offering distinctive cultural experiences alongside outstanding luxury accommodation at prices considerably lower than many traditional luxury hotspots.
As luxury travel increasingly shifts towards meaningful experiences over conspicuous spending, these destinations demonstrate that extraordinary holidays are no longer defined solely by price. Whether it’s a beachfront villa in Vietnam, a boutique riad in Morocco or an oceanfront retreat in Zanzibar, travellers can enjoy exceptional service, world-class hospitality and unforgettable experiences without paying premium European prices.
For those planning a summer escape in 2026, the message is clear: some of the world’s finest luxury holidays are hiding in plain sight, and they offer far more than simply excellent value.
