Great Southern Killarney Introduces 'Untamed Adventures' Activity Programme for Guests

Following its recent refurbishment, and five-star accreditation The Great Southern Killarney, part of Scally Hotel Collection, has unveiled a range of new offers for guests, via a new programme of ‘Untamed Adventures’. 

From outdoor pursuits, such as falconry and foraging, to poetry reading, yoga classes and luxury boat tours on world famous waters, this luxury hotel in the heart of Killarney, County Kerry, offers guests countless opportunities to immerse themselves in authentic experiences that celebrate the rich culture of Ireland.  

Falconry 

This private experience offers guests a rare encounter with magnificent birds of prey guided by an expert falconer. Hosted within the hotel’s six-acre grounds, the immersive session allows guests to discover and connect with these unforgettable creatures. 

The Birds of Prey experience at The Great Southern Killarney is available onsite at 10:00am and 11:30am every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and is priced from €200 for 1-2 adults, with sessions running for 60 minutes. Book here. 

Taste the Wild Foraging  

Discover the rich landscapes of County Kerry through a different lens with a guided foraging experience led by a local expert. Guests are invited on a walk or bike ride to explore the seasonal abundance of the estate, foraging for ingredients and making wild pesto followed by a picnic, unlike anything they’ve tried before. 

The Foraging experience at Great Southern Killarney is priced €200 per guest, with sessions running from 90 minutes.   

Yoga and Mindfulness 

Begin the day with a yoga session led by local expert, Holly, set within the calm surroundings of the Great Southern estate. Each session blends gentle movement and breathwork, offering a restorative pause that feels both grounding and quietly indulgent. 

Yoga Sessions at Great Southern Killarney are complimentary for guests on Sunday mornings with sessions running for 60 minutes.    

Whiskey Tastings in Brownes Bar 

Enjoy a refined pre or post-dinner ritual in the whiskey corner at the recently refurbished Brownes bar, led by leading producers and experts. Inspired by Sir Valentine Augustus Browne who gave some of his family estate to build the hotel, the bar offers curated whiskey flights. 

Whiskey tastings at Great Southern Killarney are priced from €30 per guest, with sessions running from 30 minutes.    

Capture Kerry with Photography Tours  

Guided by Micheál O'Sullivan, international award-winning photographer and proud Killarney native, this immersive tour takes guests deep into the National Park and along the Wild Atlantic Way, to capture the simple beauty of Ireland. Back at the hotel, the tour ends with a whiskey tasting, whilst the hotel prints images to be taken home.  

Photography Tours at Great Southern Killarney are priced €200 per tour for 1-4 people. €50 for each additional person per guest, with sessions running for 2 hours 

Boating and Angling in World Famous Waters 

Embark on a private boat trip with Ross Castle Boat Tours across one of Killarney’s largest lakes, Lough Leane, to Innisfallen Island where Irish heroes were once educated and red deer still roam freely. Suitable for all ages, and wheelchair accessible, this tour enriches guests in the heart of Killarney’s past, surrounded by its age-old landscapes. For those looking to cast a line on Lough Leane or the wild Atlantic coast, The Great Southern Killarney team can also arrange fishing equipment. 

Private experiences with Ross Castle Boat Tours are priced €300 per private boat to The Meeting of the Waters and Innisfallen Island, with sessions running from 2.5 hours
