Family Luxury Awaits at Novotel Kata Avista Phuket

A year ago we decided to embark on a 3-week trip to Southeast Asia. On that family adventure, we spent 5 days in Phuket. Having never been to Phuket, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but all the reviews I had read said the Novotel Phuket Kata Avista Resort and Spa came out on top, especially as a family with 2 kids; they seemed to tick every box.

Upon arrival, we were met at reception with the usual Thai warmth and friendliness we had grown a custom too. We were given a refreshment drink whilst they sorted through some of the admin. And then they kindly arranged a booking at the restaurant as we were all tired and hungry at that point. Nothing was too much trouble.

The restaurant was located by the pool, and the menu served traditional Thai food as well as classic international dishes ( hamburger) for the kids, which at this stage of our long trip, it was very welcome. The food was delicious, and there was something for everyone.

The family room was as described 2 queen-size beds, a Large bathroom and a large balcony.

The hotel is within walking distance to both Kata and Karon beaches, 2 beautiful white sandy beaches with plenty of water sport activities to partake in, from surfing to kite surfing. There are also plenty of restaurants outside the hotel, so no need to get a taxi anywhere.

Novotel has 3 swimming pools, including a splash pad; the main pool has a swim-up bar and whirlpool with plenty of sunbeds dotted around. We never had an issue securing sunbeds for the family.

For the kids, there are plenty aside from the 3 pools; there was a VR Room, games room, and they could rent an underwater scooter experience, which was something they both loved. There was also a kids club with a soft play, which is ideal during the peak of the day when our little one needed some time out from the sun. The activities are not just for the kids; not only do they do a kids cooking class, but they also have Thai cooking classes for adults where you get to choose and learn how to make your favourite dish.

The spa at Novotel is wonderful and family friendly. They have a selection of kids treatments, from hair braiding and massages to manicures and pedicures. Our favourite treatment to do was the mummy and me package, which included a 1-hour coconut oil massage for my daughter and a 1-hour deep tissue massage for me, all for €40. It was a blissful way to spend the late afternoon before dinner. It’s no surprise that the Novotel Phuket Kata Avista gets a 4 out of 5 on Tripadvisor, and why it was recognised as one of the best family resorts on the island and is Tripadvisor’s travellers' choice winner “reflecting its popularity and quality of service”. It certainly gets my vote.
