ITTN's Lorraine Hales spent a wonderful night at Monty's of Kathmandu in Eustace Street with Samir Sayad Business Development Executive with ATTS - representing Expedia TAAP and an intimate group of travel trade cooking enthusiasts.

TV Chef Lina Gautam gave a home cooking masterclass in the downstairs section of Monty's. Lina and her husband Shiva founded the popular restaurant in 1997 in Temple Bar where they share the flavours and traditions of authentic Nepalese cooking with Irish diners and tourists alike.

Lina cooked four dishes for us starting with Chickpea Chat Pat a stunning little side dish that can be eaten hot or cold packed with flavour and spices. Next followed was Lina's Chicken Curry - that was spiced to perfection using succulent thigh meat on the bone adding to the flavour and the tenderness of the dish. Her Potato dish Lina's Aloo Dum was the perfect pan roasted mildly spiced potatoes with a ginger kick.

Her final dish was Lina's Nepali Party Pilau Rice with dates , raisins, cashew nuts and coconut and red onion packed with flavour and often served at weddings and feasts as a celebration dish.

All of these dishes can be found in Lina's Nepalese Cookbook which is a beautiful celebration of Linas's heritage and a collection of easy authentic Nepalese dishes to inspire confidence in the home cook.

Throughout the evening we were enthralled with the unique experience presented to us by Expedia TAAP and it was wonderful that all who were there where actual enthusiastic cooks in the travel trade.
