The European Commission has approved nearly €300m in State Aid packages to the Netherlands for the funding of the country’s sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production and project development plans.

Approximately $335m (€290m) has been approved for various projects – with a dual focus on production and early-stage project development.

According to the EU, projects that receive grants have the combined capability to produce around 285 kilotonnes of SAF per year – enough green fuel to fly around 3,500 intercontinental flights every year.
