Dead Sea Luxury: A Stay at Kempinski Hotel Ishtar

If you read my expose of the Kempinski Aqaba, then you are in for another treat. This resort/hotel blends leisure, corporate, and meeting guests, though the twain shall never meet.

To start, you can enjoy a luxury airport transfer in your own chauffeur-driven limousine.

It is a hotel with 345 rooms and suites, 9 swimming pools, a wide range of culinary offerings, and one of the biggest spas you will find anywhere.

The “Kids Club” is an indoor/outdoor facility where your precious children will be entertained, educated, and fed. In short, your children will be suitably stimulated.

For those arriving for a couples’ or solo experience, you name it, and it will be done for you.

Now, get into the hotel and whet your appetite for a great few days chilling and embracing all this wonderful hotel has to offer.

As for the many restaurants offering different cuisines, I highly recommend their Lebanese restaurant, “Rehan”. I can tell you it is one your taste buds will thank you for. In addition, try their Lebanese wines; they deliver in spades (in beautiful glassware, not spades).

There is a Mediterranean Restaurant called “Blu” that delivers a culinary treat with authentic ingredients to whet your appetite further, and lets you eat early while watching the sunset, or come for cocktails and eat after your Dead Sea sunset experience.

Of course, the pool bar offers indoor and poolside drinks, plus an “à la carte” menu to browse as you slide into the infinity pool and soak up that Dead Sea view.

The “Obelisk Restaurant” offers a buffet experience for breakfast, which should suit even the most fussy breakfast-goers.

Three bars offer beautiful ambience and views to match, plus food and nibbles. Should you just fancy cocktails followed by the munchies- it happens to us all, doesn’t it- then your desires will be facilitated.

Your rooms and suites are perfect (all rooms are sea-facing), ranging from your superior room (the lead-in, by the way) to your own villa with direct Dead Sea views. This villa experience, which sleeps six with a private infinity pool, private spa, butler, and chef, will set you back a few bob, coming in at circa “JOD 30,000” per night. Mind you, there is nothing left out here, as you would expect.

Last but not least is the Dead Sea, which its very name implies: nothing lives in its waters. The immersive experience in the Dead Sea is unusual to say the least; you cannot drown, you just pop up. To lie flat in the water, walk in. Book in hand, lean back and allow your body to float, your legs to pop up, then relax, read your book for 15 minutes, come out and indulge in the Dead Sea mud experience, which offers glowing skin if left for 10 minutes after application, then get back in to the sea for a further 10 minutes, come out, shower under the outdoor shower points, dry off, and head back to your hotel for lunch and a well-earned nap.

Don’t forget your phone to capture this incredible experience, and bring your swim shoes, as the entry is uneven and stony. Before you leave, buy some Dead Sea salt, toss it into your bath at home, and luxuriate; it does wonders for your aches and pains.

This is a majestic resort hotel which delivers 5* in every way possible.
