British Airways Launches Sri Lanka Route from London Gatwick
British Airways has announced a new direct route from the UK to Sri Lanka, set to begin later this month and run through the winter season.
BA will fly between London Gatwick and Colombo three times a week - beginning on October 23 - throughout the 2026/27 winter season.

The new service comes as UK demand for Sri Lanka continues to grow. More than 170,000 UK visitors have travelled to the island so far in 2026, making the UK Sri Lanka’s second-largest source market, with a 10% share of all international arrivals.
Sri Lanka continues to capture the imagination of international travellers seeking more than a traditional long haul beach escape. The culturally rich island is bursting with experiences, from climbing the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress and spotting elephants and leopards on safari to surfing the Indian Ocean and travelling through the lush tea country of the central highlands.

Sarangi Thilakasena, Deputy Director of Marketing at the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, said: “We are delighted to welcome British Airways’ new seasonal service between London Gatwick and Colombo. The UK is an important market for Sri Lanka, and this new route makes it even easier for British travellers to discover the island during the winter season.

“Sri Lanka offers an incredible diversity of experiences in one destination. From wildlife and rich culture to exceptional cuisine, mountains, wellness and beautiful beaches, there is something to inspire every type of traveller. We look forward to welcoming more British visitors this winter and sharing the warmth, hospitality and experiences that make Sri Lanka such a special destination.”

The British Airways service operates three times a week with World Traveller, World Traveller Plus and Club World cabins. Return fares start from £620, including taxes and carrier fees, subject to availability.
