British Airways has announced it will expand its seasonal non-stop direct service between St. Louis and London to seven flights per week for four months of the summer 2027 season.

The expanded schedule - between St Louis Lambert International Airport and London Heathrow - represents an 80% increase in total seats, compared to summer 2026, with more than 35,400 seats added between St. Louis and London next summer.

The route launched April 19, 2026 with four flights per week. British Airways is the only U.K. airline offering nonstop service between St. Louis and London, providing direct access to the British capital as well as connections through Heathrow to destinations across Europe and around the world. The airline will operate an increased schedule of five flights per week from March 28, 2027, before further increasing to daily service between April 19 and June 28 and again between September 6 and October 30. The route will be served by British Airways’ Boeing 787 fleet.

“British Airways’ decision to increase service just months after the route launched is an important sign of the momentum behind this connection and the opportunity ahead for the St. Louis region,” said Brad Dean, President and CEO of Explore St. Louis. “International visitors are especially valuable to a destination because they tend to stay longer and spend more. That means this new daily flight has an impact that extends well beyond the airport, supporting our hotels, restaurants, attractions, retailers and cultural institutions. Growing this route is about growing the St. Louis economy.”

The additional frequency creates greater flexibility for international leisure travellers, tour operators and meeting planners while increasing the St. Louis region’s capacity to welcome travellers from the U.K. and other international markets. For St. Louis-area travellers, it provides another option for reaching London and connecting through British Airways’ global network.

The economic opportunity extends throughout the region. International visitor spending supports businesses across the hospitality sector, from lodging and dining to transportation, entertainment, retail and attractions. The increased frequency also strengthens St. Louis’ ability to compete for international meetings, conventions and business travel. Greater air access and schedule flexibility can make the destination more attractive to meeting planners, organizations and attendees considering St. Louis for events with an international audience. This increasing international visitation can generate an outsized economic impact for the destination.

Ron Kitchens, Managing Partner of Greater St. Louis, Inc. states, "British Airways' decision to introduce a daily service demonstrates growing international confidence in the St. Louis region. This expansion will strengthen our economy by connecting local businesses to European markets and providing new opportunities for our industries to compete on the global stage. By making it easier for more tourists to enjoy our region, it will also strengthen our competitive edge as a destination for new visitors, conventions and investment. We thank British Airways for their support, and we look forward to continuing to show the world what makes our region a great place to live, work and build a business."

In addition to the economic opportunities for the entire city, the extended service does support our region’s airport in a significant way. "This positive news from British Airways is a testament to the success the route to London has been for the St. Louis region," stated Jerry Beckmann, Acting Airport Director for St. Louis Lambert International Airport. "We are glad to be a part of this important relationship with British Airways and our regional partners."

Ambassador Kevin F. O’Malley, Chair of the St. Louis County Port Authority said: “This announcement is fantastic news for St. Louis. This partnership has continued to grow, and we are thrilled that British Airways sees the strength of the St. Louis region in the global economy.”

Hubert Frach, British Airways’ Head of Sales North America, said: "We're delighted to be significantly growing our presence in St. Louis for Summer 2027 with daily flights to London Heathrow for more than four months of the season. The response to this route has been tremendous since launch only five months ago, and this expansion gives customers even greater choice and flexibility, while strengthening connections from St. Louis to London, Europe and our global network of more than 200 destinations. Thank you to the airport, tourism partners and the wider St. Louis community for their continued support."

Since the route’s launch, Explore St. Louis and its partners have worked to build awareness and demand in the UK and Ireland through travel trade outreach, media engagement and destination promotion. International journalists hosted in St. Louis have generated coverage highlighting the region’s culinary scene, cultural attractions, music, neighbourhoods and Route 66 experiences.

The expanded service further strengthens St. Louis’ position as a gateway to authentic American experiences, offering world-class cultural institutions, major-league sports, a deep-rooted live music tradition, distinctive neighbourhoods and a nationally recognised culinary scene.
