Aircoach Introduces Double-Decker Buses to Dublin Airport Route

Aircoach has announced the introduction of double-decker buses to its fleet for the very first time.

The state-of-the-art coaches will be rolled out across its 700X Dublin city centre route, which serves passengers travelling between Dublin Airport and Dublin city centre.

Aircoach’s existing fleet of single-deck coaches on the 700X route will all be replaced with double-deckers, increasing the operator’s passenger capacity from 49 to 97 people on every journey.

The double-deckers will be sub-branded as the “Dublin Airport Flyer” from Aircoach, with a distinct purple colour for all the coaches ensuring clarity of service and ease of identification for both international and domestic travellers.

The introduction of the double decker fleet follows a period of increased passenger demand on the 700X route, with Aircoach citing growing customer numbers as a key factor behind the decision to upgrade its fleet.

The double-decker fleet will provide a range of benefits for Aircoach customers, including additional seat capacity for passengers at peak travel periods, convenience for group travel as well as additional security for travellers, with luggage now able to be brought onboard these buses. This will all be achieved without any additional stand space required on the Dublin Airport campus.

Aircoach said the move is also intended to encourage more people to choose public transport over private car journeys, supporting wider efforts to reduce congestion and promote more sustainable, shared travel across Dublin.

The double-decker fleet of buses represent a significant investment by Aircoach, underlining the company's ongoing commitment to delivering enhanced connectivity and improving travel options for its passengers across the island of Ireland. This announcement follows a £3 million investment in 2025 by Aircoach in a luxury fleet of new coaches on its 705X route, improving travel for passengers across (L’)Derry, Belfast and Dublin.
