A&K Sanctuary Announces Culinary Vision for New Egypt Riverboat
Launching in November this year, Nile Seray, an A&K Sanctuary, will feature an ambitious new food & beverage programme that will redefine dining on The Nile.
Inspired by Egypt's rich culinary heritage, the new menus integrate regional ingredients, contemporary techniques and immersive dining experiences, creating a distinctly modern expression of Egyptian gastronomy.

Nile Seray will accommodate 64 guests across 32 suites, sailing between Luxor and Aswan on four-night journeys that combine exclusive archaeological access with A&K Sanctuary's signature service. The new culinary programme, created by A&K Egypt, builds on this philosophy, positioning dining as an integral part of the voyage and as another way to discover the country's landscapes, history and culture.
The Crossroads of Africa, Arabia and the Mediterranean
Created for Nile Seray, the culinary concept reflects A&K Sanctuary's vision of offering guests a deeper connection to Egypt through every aspect of their journey. Drawing inspiration from Egypt's position at the crossroads of Africa, Arabia and the Mediterranean, the menus blend regional heritage with refined techniques, creating an experience that celebrates the flavours, ingredients and traditions of the Nile Valley through a contemporary lens. At the heart of Nile Seray's menus is an ethos of authenticity through ingredients, spices and techniques, and allowing Egyptian cuisine to guide a carefully considered culinary offering. This approach focuses on respecting the ingredients, prioritising seasonal and locally sourced produce and creating a multi-sensory experience.

From live cooking stations and elegant tasting menus to handcrafted botanical beverages and vibrant street food evenings, every dining experience has been designed to tell the story of the Nile through flavour, craftsmanship and hospitality. Menus feature classic Egyptian dishes such as fava bean bissara, hawawshi and rozz me'ammar, alongside regional favourites including Lebanese kibbeh, Levantine muhammara and Persian sambousek. Flavours are layered through smoky baba ghanouj, sweet date and preserved lemon dressings, vibrant hibiscus, tamarind and sumac sauces, house-made pickled mango, and a refined tahini-infused beurre blanc. These regional ingredients and techniques are paired with contemporary cooking, from pan-seared duck breast served with freekeh risotto, Egyptian apricots and prunes to grilled salmon crusted with sesame and nigella seeds.
Everything, including the bread, is made on board by the team using ancient grains, fresh seasonal vegetables, herbs and spices sourced from the fertile Nile Valley. Breakfast and lunch are centred around interactive buffets where chefs prepare dishes to order, bringing theatre to the table with live cooking stations. Guests can watch shakshuka being prepared, flaky feteer meshaltet being layered and filled, and rounds of aish baladi being toasted and drizzled with orange blossom honey. Outdoor grill experiences, with an emphasis on smoke and spice, reflect Bedouin and coastal influences, serving charcoal-grilled lamb kofta coated in dukkah and Nile perch finished with black lime butter.
Dinners range from elevated five-course tasting menus to a street food evening inspired by Cairo’s bustling food markets, with refined interpretations of taameya sliders, hawawshi, Alexandrian chicken bites and freshly made zalabia.
Beverage Philosophy
Inspired by Egypt's rich botanical heritage, the onboard team has developed a collection of handcrafted syrups, infusions and bitters using ingredients including hibiscus, tamarind, rose, mint, carob and date. These "House Creations" form the foundation of a distinctive drinks programme that celebrates local flavours through both alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, as well as sophisticated beverage pairings.
Alongside these creations, guests will discover carefully selected Egyptian wines from producers including Gianaclis Cellars and Kouroum of the Nile, together with local beers such as Luxor Pilsner and Cairo Craft Pale Ale. Alcohol-free pairings are also available, from cucumber and lime agua fresca topped with black lime foam to rosemary and citrus coolers finished with a sumac rim. Each evening's tasting menu is paired course by course with wines or botanical creations chosen to complement the food.
The Art of Pickling
Among the defining flavours of Egyptian cuisine are its preserves and pickles, known as torshiat, a centuries-old tradition born from the fertile banks of the Nile. Once a practical way of preserving seasonal produce, they have become an essential part of the country's culinary identity, bringing brightness and acidity to every meal.
Aboard Nile Seray, this heritage is honoured by preparing all pickles in-house using seasonal vegetables, herbs and citrus sourced from local producers along the Nile. Designed to complement dishes across the tasting menus and buffets, each preserve adds balance to the plate while offering guests another taste of the region's rich food culture. Guests can also discover the craft for themselves during interactive cooking demonstrations, learning traditional preservation techniques and creating their own Egyptian-inspired pickles.
A Growing Fleet
Nile Seray joins A&K Sanctuary's fleet of four existing luxury riverboats on the Nile: Nile Adventurer, Sun Boat III, Sun Boat IV and Zein Nile Chateau. The expansion reflects A&K's nearly five decades of Nile cruising expertise and continued investment in Egyptian tourism. With a sister vessel set to launch in 2028, A&K Sanctuary's commitment to the destination has never been stronger.
