A Five-Star Escape in the Algarve

During Easter break, we are always faced with the same dilemma: where to go without going on holiday with the kids. And Portugal, especially the Algarve, is always top of our list. This year led us to discover another Marriott resort, the recently acquired Marriott Salgados Golf Resort and Spa.

On paper, it had everything we were looking for: 2 bedrooms, large modern rooms. On site there were six swimming pools, a playground, a restaurant and bar, a golf resort and close enough to the beach (they provided an hourly shuttle bus) to transport you there and back. The hotel was also located near a few restaurants so you could explore and not feel that you were confined to the resort. It was also very easy to get Ubers to and from, so you could venture further out if you wished.

The hotel is split into two different sections, and you are free to use both: The Marriott Residences Salgados Resort, Algarve and the Marriott Salgados Golf Resort and Spa. The only difference that I could see was that the Residences have more of an apartment feel whilst the other is more of a hotel room vibe. We checked into the residence whilst friends we travelled with checked into the golf resort. The Residence features 192 contemporary residences ranging from one to three bedrooms. Our room was an incredibly spacious 2-bedroom, and our balcony overlooked one of the many pools. The residences combine contemporary style with home-like convenience, creating the perfect setting for meaningful moments and memorable stays.

The amenities at the hotel were fantastic; my kids loved the fact that the pools were heated, A big plus especially in April. The Golf course is there for those looking to perfect their swing or discover the game for the first time; the region’s mild climate, cutting-edge facilities, and tranquil landscapes make golf a year-round pleasure. My son played golf a few times but mostly was exploring the resort and their many pools. The Pool at the Golf Resort had a kids' slide, which was a big hit with my 8-year-old, so we hung out there most mornings.

With its expansive grounds and its location in the rural landscapes, my son was able to kick around his ball or play beach volleyball on site; that and the pools meant he was entertained all day.

We had breakfast included in our package, which had buffet and à la carte options, and the food was fantastic; the usual favourites for the kids were on offer, and the food was fresh and something to everyone’s liking.

I truly enjoyed my break here at The Marriott Residences Salgados Resort, and cannot wait to come back. For me, the residences combine contemporary style with home-like convenience, creating the perfect setting for meaningful moments and memorable stays in the Algarve.
